Well done to all 760 runners who completed the Ratfarnham 5k Run 2017 on Sunday 24th September. There were over 900 entrants. The 5k was won by Brian Maher, Kilkenny City Harriers, in 14.40. Second was Conor Dooney, Raheny Shamrocks, 14.44 and third was Bereket Gebreslese, Ethopia in 14.51. In the ladies race Ciara Durkan, Skerries AC won in 16.46, Ide NicDhomhaill, Donore Harriers AC was second in 16.55 and third was Sorcha NicDhomhaill, Donore in 17.00. In the Junior (Under 20) race Derek Crammond, Parnell AC was first junior home in 15.53 and Siobhra O’Flaherty, SLOT, Carlow, won the junior ladies in 17.23. In the men’s team race Rathfarnham WSAF AC won and Sportsworld AC were second. In the ladies team Donore won and Crusaders were second. With 3 runners under 15 minutes, 31 at 16.00 and under, 68 at 17.00 and under, 109 at 18.00 and under, 143 under 19.00, 185 at 20.00 and under, 392 under 25.00 and 595 under 30.00, this is truly the fastest 5k in Ireland.
